Rules and Strategies for Online Roulette

Roulette gained popularity in the mid 1800s is often associated with tuxedoed gents, bejeweled women, caviar, and champagne. Some give credit of the birth of roulette to Blaise Pascal, the famed mathematician. It is difficult to know, but it would make perfect sense, roulette being a mathematical game.

There are more gambling systems devised to beat the roulette wheel than any other game. A betting system may give you an advantage in the short term, but do not expect to systematically play your way to riches using the roulette wheel in the casinos. For one thing, everything considered, it is a very difficult task involving such intricacies as “wheel clocking”, or finding a biased roulette wheel. For another thing, it is unlikely that the casinos will sit back and do nothing about it if you actually were to succeed.

Having a goal of staying ahead when playing roulette, even if it is only a relatively small amount, is more realistic than having a goal of making millions.

The Basics of Roulette

Now that we have our feet back on the ground…let us talk about the basics of roulette. However, if you are already ready to play visit one of the online casinos that we recommend to get started.

Column Bet The roulette table layout is divided into three columns. Bets on a combination of twelve numbers at the same time. Pays 2-1.
Combination Bet Using one or more chips in the same position to wager on more than one number at a time.
Corner Bet One wager that bets four numbers at the same time. An inside bet. Pays off at 8-1.
Dozen Bet A wager on twelve numbers on the roulette layout at the same time. Numbers 1-12, 13-24, or 25-36.
Even-Odd Bet Pays 1-1 if the winning number is Even or Odd. This is an 18 number wager on the outside.
Five Number Bet The bet which gives the casino a 7.89% edge over the player. Bets numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, 3 at the same time.
High-Low Bet Pays 1-1. Bets 18 numbers at the same time (1-18 or 19-36).
Inside Bet A wager placed on any individual number on the roulette table layout including 0 or 00, or any combination of the numbers.
Outside Bet Red, Black, Odd, Even, High, Low
High-Low Bet Pays 1-1. Bets 18 numbers at the same time (1-18 or 19-36).
Red-Black Bet An 18 number wager which pays off at 1-1.
Six-Number Bet An inside combination bet at six numbers at the same time.
Split Bet An inside combination bet of two numbers at the same time.
Straight Bet A single wager on a single number or combination bet.
Straight Up Bet Pays 35-1. Bets just one number (0, 00, 1-36).
Trio Bet A combination bet on three numbers at the same time. An inside wager.
Wheel See American or French Wheel.
Zero, Double-zero Green in color. Can be wagered the same way as numbers 1-3

The Roulette Rules

Don’t let the various terms above frustrate you. They are not as ominous as you may think, because they all derive from a very basic premise. So, are you ready for your first trip to the roulette wheel?

Stepping up to the table for the first time can be intimidating, so spend some time here, reading this article on the basic how-to of the game, in order to gain the confidence you need to proceed! If playing roulette online is going to be your practice field before a live performance, we can spend some time on that as well…later.

For starters, roulette moves relatively slow, so the roulette table may be a wise jumping off place to get your feet wet and begin to enjoy your casino experience. Its nature is subdued and quiet, and by proxy of that attitude it tends to draw a more ”civilized” crowd.

Secondly, roulette has its own set of chips, which are not the same as the other tables and games in the casino. When you trade your regular money or chips in, they will give you a stack of roulette chips. They will be all the same color. Everyone playing at the table uses their own color, as this is the only way the dealers can keep track of what bet belongs to whom.

The value of the color of chips is the dealers’ decision, and he/she will make it known to everyone playing at the roulette table, because all the chips at the table have the same value. Dealers will place what is known as a “lamer” on top of a chip of that color. If you see the person beside you with red chips and you see a lamer on a stack of red chips with $100 printed on it, you know that stack of red chips is worth $100. Stacks of chips are usually 20 deep, so the $100 marker on the stack will tell you that the chips are worth $5 each ($5 x 20 chips = $100).

Okay, your money is down, you have been assigned some chips and your color; you are ready to play the game of roulette!

Roulette:Placing the bet

Actually placing the physical bet in roulette is easy and only requires dexterity. However, there are different places you can put bets down, so it can be rather befuddling to begin with. Bets basically fall into one of two categories: inside bets and outside bets. Naturally, being on the outside of the table makes those bets placed there “outside bets” and conversely, the inside bets are the ones on the main grid of numbers, which are located on the inside of the roulette table.

To place a bet, take your roulette chip(s) and put it (them) down where you want to bet. It really is as simple as it sounds, keeping in mind that, outside bets must each be at least the table minimum, whereas inside bets only have to total the table minimum. What does that mean? If the table minimum is $10, outside bets each has to be $10, no matter how many there are.

However, on your inside bets you can make two $5 bets or ten $1 bets. You can make as many different bets as you want at any given time. You can even bet on red and black at the same time, although there is not really going to be an advantage in doing so. As long as your bet total is at least the table minimum, but under the maximum, you are okay.

You can place a bet almost any time you want while the roulette session is going. I said almost because there is a “cut off” point. Let me explain. After one spin is completed and the losing bets have been swept off, you will see other gamblers starting to lay their roulette bets down for the next spin. This usually takes a while, so do not think that you have to rush to place your bets.

You can do that all the way up to the point where the dealer will wave his hand(s) over the table and yells “no more bets!” He/she will not do this until after the ball has been spinning for a little while, and bets can be placed while the roulette wheel is still in motion, all you need to pay attention to is the dealer.

When the ball stops and comes to a rest, the dealer(s) will begin to pay the winning bets, and sweep the board clean of losing bets. If you watch a few rounds, you quickly come to realize that the casino always seems to sweep away more bets than it pays off. As long as they are not your bets, I guess you will be doing well!

That’s it! It is not too complicated at all. In fact roulette is a very easy game to learn, and even easier to play. The casinos often try to give the ambiance of sophistication because it attracts money to the roulette table. Do not let this keep you from enjoying a spin or two.

Online Roulette

We discussed online gambling and practice of the roulette wheel earlier. Let us discuss some differences as well as similarities, and then offer you some suggestions that will help both online and real-life gaming strategies.

Online roulette is a really good attempt by the Internet gurus to simulate the real thing. However, there are some major differences between the two, and they are pretty obvious upon observation. Where you are is a good place to start. Standing live in front of a roulette table fully clothed and alone in your house is vastly different than playing in a real casino, where it is part of the casino dealer’s job to try and pull your attention away from the game.

Sometimes, they will try anything to do just that! So, remember, that although online roulette may allow you to get comfortable with the basic rules and practices of the game, there really is no way it can prepare you for the atmosphere of the real casino.

First you’re operating in a vacuum when playing online roulette, because you are not dealing with physical people and the competition they present. Casinos are also full of other things that easily distract you.

Second thought that occurs to me, and I’m sure others as well when considering online versus real life roulette is that of security. What do I mean? Well, in real life, you watch as the little ball jumps around and gets thrown back and forth on pegs, edges and the like, and then it quite randomly falls into place. This somehow affords you the feeling that you “have a chance” and that it is not predictable and “rigged”. This element is missing when going online to play. However, as long as you only play at the online casinos we recommend, you can rest assured that the software is honest.

Roulette Strategies and Betting Systems

When it comes to roulette strategy, there are a number of effective betting systems that can help you become a winner.

The math behind roulette is simple, and it is fairly encouraging since the game of roulette has a relatively low “house edge”. That is to say…knowing it does help you “beat the wheel” but only if you use it together with a good betting system. At his point we need to discuss “house edge”.

This is the percentage or odds that the house gives you for winning. Most American casinos quote a roulette house edge of 5.31% for every bet except one. The other bet, the five-number bet, gives a more dismal house edge of 7.13%. What it comes down is this: if you want something that works, look for extended rules when you play.

For instance, some online casinos use a rule called ‘surrender’. When playing with this rule (and you need to find out if its in place BEFORE playing) you have the closest thing to a strategy that ever was. Many online casinos also offer single zero roulette, which brings down the house edge to a very low 2,7%.

The surrender rule applies only to outside bets that pay even money. These bets are: red/black, even/odd, and high/low. If the ball lands on 0 or 00 then you only lose half of what you placed as a bet instead of all of it. When casinos use this rule, then the house edge starts to drop to around 2.5% for American roulette and 1.35% for single zero roulette. This rule works very much in your favour, and if it is in use it makes roulette one of the best casino games to play.

There are several strategies and betting systems that are worth trying to learn to increase your chances of winning at this game. However, there are a few sites on the Internet selling betting systems which try to teach you how to systematically beat an online casino’s roulette game, but these are usually a waste of money.

How to Play Online Bingo

Introduction

The real Bingo is played in “halls”. Rules, payouts and variations of play may vary from one hall to another. Documents of some type (pamphlets, hall rules, brochures, etc) detailing what games, rules and payouts are available at each respective location can usually be found and obtained by request.

Bingo players buy cards with numbers on them in a 5 x 5 pattern that corresponds to the five letters in the word B-I-N-G-O. Numbers are then drawn by the caller, such as I-19 or 0-65. These are drawn at random. In American Bingo there are a possible 75, and 90 possible in European Bingo called Tombola. This process is repeated until one player has a ‘Bingo’, which is a line on the card with five numbers in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal row. Bingo wins the prize.

Bingo Cards

A bingo card has 24 spaces with numbers and one free space which is blank. The numbers are printed randomly on each card, arranged in five columns of five numbers each, making it a 5 x 5, equaling 25 spaces total including the blank square. All numbers in the “B” column are between 1 and 15. All those in the “I” column are between 16 and 30; “N” column (four numbers and one free space) has between 31 and 45; the “G” column holds numbers between 46 and 60, and finally in the “O” column you find numbers that are between 61 and 75.

Players may choose from thousands of unique cards, insuring that no one else in the hall will be playing off the same set of numbers.

The numbers are announced, usually rather quickly by the caller, so you must pay careful attention to which numbers are called and then mark them quickly and accurately on your card(s). You can play more than one at a time!

The caller will continue calling numbers until one or more players calls out “BINGO!” At that point, that particular game stops, and all the covered numbers are verified by the caller. If indeed that person has won, then the prize is awarded and a new bingo game begins, using all new cards. If there is more than one winner, calling out a simultaneous “bingo”, the prize will be split among all the winners.

Las Vegas and Online Bingo

In Las Vegas many variations of the standard form are played, including Letter X, Six Pack and Coverall Bingo. Some places offer special progressive payouts as high as $10,000. Progressive play is sometimes long…so be prepared.

When playing online bingo, your cards are randomly selected for you. Most online games give you 3 or 4 cards. Other games let you take more, sometimes having to pay for them. Every online bingo game has a caller or a display board for the bingo numbers. The game pattern is also displayed. Some games automatically mark the numbers on your card for you.

Online Bingo Halls

There are “pay online bingo” and ”free online bingo” websites. Nowadays there is no need to download any software, you can play in your browser or download an app. There are one game sites and multi-game sites. You should should know which one you are entering before play begins.

For purposes of speaking form experience, I entered a free, multi-game site and began my play. Here’s my journey, related almost in real time.

First of all, be prepared, even if you are going to play free bingo, to create an account and have to log in each time you want to play. And there may still be some king of point system or tallying method for how well you’ve done.

After creating this account, you can come and go in the bingo halls for that site as often or as little as you desire.

I entered for the first time and decided to start with Classic Five in a Row. The particular card theme I chose was “Independence”. I played my first game in which I was keeping track of four cards. It was relatively simple and just about like playing in a hall, except for the caller yelling out numbers or having to look back and forth between the board and the cards.

Outside the annoying ads, and the occasional pop up, trying to get me to play for money, it was a pleasant experience.

Overall, as far as gambling goes, online bingo is fairly benign and can be lots of fun!

Slot Machine Strategies and Gambling Systems

I have purchased numerous slot machine strategies and betting systems promising to reveal the secrets to winning at slots that actually work. I have also developed my own variations of these slot machine strategies, based on hours upon hours of playing both day and night, with notebook in hand.

The result of all this is right here in front of you. After extensive testing of slot machine strategies, I can assure you that some strategies work well, but there are very few that work all the time, and the ones that do require incredible patience. I have learnt that the one most important thing to winning at online slot machines is to choose the best online casino since the payout percentages offered by different Internet casinos can vary between 75% and 98%.

If you want to play slots make sure you choose a casino from our list of top online casinos to be sure that you are choosing an honest casino operator. Anyway, let’s back discussing how to actually win at slots online.

Are Slot Machines Honest?

There is no getting around the fact that slot machines are “random,” so it would be fool-hardy to claim that I have discovered a fool-proof slot machine strategy.

However it also is not correct to say for example, “Because slot machine games are random, there is no such thing as a winning slot machine strategy…” On the contrary, I have repeatedly seen slot machines, both online and offline that keep on paying for a considerable time, and the players who responded accordingly were well rewarded.

I can’t tell you where or when you may find such a game, but the slot machine strategies below are in my experience the best ways to take advantage of a situation when it arises.

Standard Deviation Slot Machine Strategies

This type is among the most advanced of all the slot machine strategies I have found. They involve the following two components.

First of all, for these slot machine strategies, you play only “equal ratio” slot machine games–that is, those games that offer the same payment ratios for all levels of play. For example, the jackpot for 3 quarters (or 3 dollars) should be exactly 3 times the jackpot for 1 quarter (or 1 dollar) etc.

Secondly, these slot machine strategies involve calculating the “standard deviation” of the number of plays between wins. The player uses a minimum bet until he approaches the standard deviation of the number of plays between wins. Then the player uses a minimum bet until he approaches two standard deviations.

For example, if most wins seem to happen about 10 to 20 plays apart, then the standard deviation would be approximately 15. Thus using the Standard Deviation type of slot machine strategy, the player increases his bet level whenever about 30 plays have gone by without a win.

I do not give the exact formula here for standard deviation–or any of the exact betting sequences–because after extensive testing, I do not agree with using any such formulas. Firstly, I think it is better just to use this general idea to “count the plays between wins,” and then to bet high on winning play counts.

Secondly. what matters most is to use a slot machine strategy only so long as you are winning, and then to move on to a different game or to different strategy as soon as this stops working.

Slot Machine Strategies for Online Craps

The idea of taking advantage of the standard deviation for a slot machine strategy can be applied to practically any gambling game. This is especially true for online craps where as with slots, you can play in small increments of 25 cents to a dollar.

For example, you can number every dice roll between every roll of 7, and then bet “Come” or “Don’t Come” depending on the trend for that specific roll. The more often this works, the higher you want to make future bets on that specific roll.

The payout rate for many slot machine games is as low as 75%–whereas the payout rate for the best casinos is around 98%. This is a huge improvement. Therefore by applying slot machine strategies only at the best paying casinos, you actually are creating sort of a super-high-yield slot machine game.

Winning at Online Slots With One Play Strategies

When it comes to winning at online slot machines, this is my own favorite group of strategies. Unlike the Standard Deviation strategies, with the One Play slot machine strategies, you do not focus on “equal ratio” games but instead you focus on games with the largest jackpots, and you play only the maximum bet. You start with only one play per game per day, and then you obey the following rules.

  • If any one play wins a payout at 1x-3x (1 to 3 times the amount bet) then you make 1 more play.
  • If any one play wins 4x or more, then you make 3 more plays.
  • Otherwise you stop playing immediately.
  • Take note of those slots where such strategies might seem to work, and those games where they do not work.

Most players I meet, seem to think that One Play slot machine strategies are crazy. These people say, “You can’t possibly expect to win from just one play…” They especially tend to blurt this out with their mouths hanging open just after they have seen me hit a One Play jackpot! Well these slot machine strategies work for me and what I have suggested here is refined from my experience.

Conclusion

After testing numerous slot machine strategies, I came to the following simple conclusions:

  • Sure there are times that a slot machine game does not pay for awhile, and then “pays off” in the end. However there also are times when a slot machine game will just keep on paying. Why not “demand” that you only will play this second type of game?
  • Even a jackpot does not last very long if you go around feeding slot machines that do not feed you back.
  • If on average you can keep 1x from every 3x win, you will do better than to win the largest jackpot.

Using One Play slot machine strategies, I have sometimes managed to play for hours on end with only $50 input and ended up winning thousands of dollars, even without a jackpot. At other times of course, I have had to stop playing rather quickly.

I have decided that my goal should not be to win every day, but to make a small profit long-term, and thereby keep getting continuous chances to win a huge jackpot. Otherwise, no ordinary slot machine strategies or wins are going to change my life.

If you are interested in reading more about slot machine strategies for there is a fantastic book by Charles W. Lund called Robbing the One-Armed Bandits, which we strongly recommend. If you want to try out any of the strategies described here and really win money playing slots money then visit 888, which is undoubtedly the best place for winning slot players today.

Advantages of Playing Online Poker

I have not played much online poker – and yet after a few months’ experience, already I manage to win about $10/hour on average, not including the profit I made from deposit bonuses. I would not be able to do this offline for sure.

This is because I play only online poker, and using these advantages:

  1. Low overhead. Much lower rakes, no travel costs, no restaurant bills, no tipping.
  2. Low minimums. In offline poker, the lowest minimum generally is $5, and even this is not feasible because of the high rake. Whereas in online poker, you can start at 25¢ or even 10¢, and work your way up gradually.
  3. Low stress. Hazing is still there but is much easier to ignore in online poker. Also there are no “tells,” no need to freeze your face. If you like, you even can take notes and read your cards aloud.
  4.  Table-hopping. Whenever overmatched in online poker, you can change tables or even casinos without a long waiting line. Or just sign off and try again later.
  5.  Higher playing speeds. Online poker is much faster. This means that you can win more per hour at lower levels.

Basic Resources for Online Poker Players

Poker Books and LaptopPoker guides may not be necessary-experience is what counts most. If however you are a rank beginner or want the best possible game, here is all you really need.

2. Turbo Texas Hold’em by Wilson Software. *Amazon

What Poker Games to Play?

I would avoid Stud games because there are relatively few online players, so you have little chance to seek out a winnable table. Success is easier in the following games.

  1.  Low Limit Hold’em. This is by far the most popular game and the best place to start. Just start cruising various online casinos with a minimum deposit-leave any table as soon as you seem to be losing-and play more wherever you tend to win.
  2.  Single-table Hold’em tournaments. This is not for everyone, because only the first three players win, the rest lose everything, and there is a lot of luck involved at the end. However those who have the feel for it can be regular winners. (Never mind multi-table tournaments, however-your chances of winning in those are rare.)
  3.  No Limit and Pot Limit Hold’em. This is increasingly popular, with good reason-after a while, limit Hold’em can be a bore. However the trick is to find an online poker room where you can play with a modest stake, and frequently see the flop without having to bet everything. Usually the play is quite wild-but at some tables, everyone folds often against any show of determination. This can allow you to bluff successfully even with small bets, for a huge profit/risk ratio.
  4.  No Limit and Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. Don’t ask me how to play Omaha Hi-Low-I tried it a few times and lost my shirt. In the process however, it seemed evident that for those who do learn Hi-Low properly, there is a steady stream of “that looks like fun” players like me just asking to be fleeced.

Strategy Tips for Online Poker Beginners

Here are my ways of taking advantage of the little tricks that most online poker players eventually learn, and which you might as well learn as soon as possible. My tactics suggested here probably are not very professional-they are over-cautious, to be sure. However the goal of the beginner is not to win the most in the long term, but only to win and to do so steadily.

  1. Taking advantage of position in online poker. It is not enough to “have good position.” You also must take advantage of a late position in online poker, by semi-bluffing when you have some chance both to win and also to fold the table. Conversely however, also look out for the over-bluffer. Then just wait until you have a killer hand-play possum while he bluffs away-and then, wham.
  2.  Do not slow play in Low Limit Hold’em. With some exceptions, in low limit poker games, usually slow play doesn’t pay. Your opposition usually will fold or play somewhat regardless of what you do-so when you have a strong hand, play its worth from the start.
  3.  Milking your 4-flush. Always remember in Hold’em that when you have 2 pocket cards the same suit-and exactly 2 more of that suit hit the flop-and if you hold a face card-and if there is little sign of someone building a house or better-then you already know that on average, you will win approximately half the time. This means that if only you can keep 2 or more opponents in such a poker game, on that flop you should try to pile the bets to the ceiling.
  4.  Cooling your 4-flush on the turn. So you bet high on the flop hoping to complete a face-high flush-then on the turn, it does not come. Here is where you want to keep the bets low, your chances are no longer about 50%, but more like 25%. In No-Limit or Pot Limit, you may even want to fold if there is only one opponent and he is making extreme bets-conversely however, you cannot reveal this reluctance, but must bet something semi-substantial if you have early position.
  5.  Cooling your faceless flush. If one of your two-of-a-suit in the pocket is not a face card, then if two more of your suit hit the flop, you certainly want to stay in the game but keep it cheap. All too often, someone else is betting for the same flush and with a higher kicker.
  6.  Cooling your over-flush. Here again you have two-of-a-suit-but instead of two more hitting the flop, you get three-a made flush. A dream come true? Maybe, but if another of your suit hits, and if you do not hold an Ace, this dream is a nightmare. At a full low-limit table, the chances are very high that someone has the Ace of that suit and is clinging to it. It is for the 4-flush holder to bet high on the flop and not on the turn-it is for the 5-flush holder to bet high on the turn, and not before.
  7. Spotting the flush play. If it is a full table and nobody bet high on the blind-and then somebody wants to raise the flop-consider folding as soon as you see three-of-a-suit on the board, even if you have a made straight. A flush is very likely.
